We need Trustees...

We’re looking for Trustees.

A bit about us:

Everyone’s a maker. We’re creating a network of makerspaces for everyone to explore the world through play during drop-in activities, workshops and camps. Joining us means you’ll be encouraged to play and experiment with new ways of educating and doing business. After all, we’re championing learning through doing.

Trustees are responsible for governing and deciding the strategic direction of Bright Box Makerspace. We need people excited about inclusion in arts, technology, engineering and play who can bring complementary skills to our board to help grow a sustainable, high impact organisation.

Trustees act in the best interests of Bright Box Makerspace and support us in using our resources responsibly. Our trustees ensure that we stay accountable to each other, our funders and the communities we serve.

You’ll work with the Board of Trustees and Managing Director to understand and guide the organisation to create social impact that is fully embedded within all revenue streams, provide relevant and meaningful products and services, and develop a supported network of partnerships.

What makes this role unique?

This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys a fast-moving organisation with a focus on high-quality social impact. You don’t need to be an expert in children, education, arts, technology or engineering - we just ask that you are passionate about equal opportunity and are open to change.

Our programmes are supported by the Institute of Engineering and Technology, Institute of Mechanical Engineers, UnLtd, the Big Lottery Fund and British Science Week to further access to learning through play. To date, we’ve worked with 7,000+ children and have won awards from the University of Sheffield, Sheffield Soup, Sheffield Business Awards and the Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851. Our key priority is promoting play followed by promoting future social inclusion and creativity in innovation. This is an opportunity to contribute to and build upon our community programmes.
